Reminders提醒:

1. Monday/Wednesday class will have class on Friday, Sept.20. 周一周三班下周五有课。
2. We are sending home a zipped communication bag with your child every school day. Please view and remove all of the papers each night, and return the bag the following school day.
3. Our library book exchange is every Wednesday. Your child brought home one book this week. Please return this book on or before Wednesday so that your child can sign out another book. 

Important dates 重要日期：

Sept.19 (Thurs 星期四): Terry Fox at Midnapore School. Because of the rain this Thursday, we had to postpone the Terry fox run to next Thursday. We will be gathering as a school community on Thursday at 10:30am in the gym.  Shortly after we will be participating in our school-wide run.  Please make sure your child has comfortable clothing and a water bottle for this day.  As a school community we will be collecting toonies for Terry.  If you’re able to, please bring a toonie to school and we will be collecting to reach a school goal.

Sept.26 & 27 Midnapore meet the teacher open house. We are excited to welcome all our Midnapore families to our September welcome back Open house.  Please come visit our learning space on September 26^th, between 4-6 PM. At this time, you will have the opportunity to tour our school, visit your child's classroom and enjoy the Calgary YYC food trucks.  Teachers will be booking 1-1 meetings on Friday, September 27^th with those families who require a more detailed meeting and those who have IPP documents to review. • We continue to learn about how to greet in Mandarin (Hello-你好, Goodbye 再见)
• We learned two basic strokes in Mandarin printing “横horizontal stroke” and “竖 Vertical stroke”

English 英文：

• We are working on recognizing and printing our name
• We are beginning to learn about simple letters, this week we are learning about lowercase a and lowercase m and how they sound like (Please see the videos I made below)
• We learned about voice on and voice off sounds and nose sound
• We read a book about how to show respect
• We learned about Terry Fox and his brave journey to raise money for cancer research. We will run next week as a school to honor his legacy and continue his mission to help find a cure for cancer.

Math数学:

• We are practicing counting 1-10 and 10-1. We read the story Ten Black Dots and made our own art creations using black dots. 
• We also read a book Pete the cat and his four groovy buttons and make a fun art practicing our coloring and gluing skills (we glued pompoms on Pete the cat’s shirt)
