Chinese New Year Celebration is on Jan 23 @ 6:30 pm. That means we are starting to learn about
our Chinese New Year performance songs this month.

Mandarin中文:
This week, with the introduction of our CNY performance and finale songs,
we will slowly transition into our new topic of learning.

Grade 1s are going to learn about color words,
how to print them correctly, how to use them in various conversations, how to
express their preference of colors. We will practice using sentence starters “I
like….” “I do not like….”to make sentences.
Grade 2s are going to learn about colors and
common fruits. They are going to learn how to describe a fruit using color
words and using descriptive size words (big, small, medium, round). Then, we
will practice using sentence starters “I like…”, “I don’t like…” to make juicy
sentences.

Math数学:
Grade 1: This week, grade 1s will start learning about balance
(equal sign=), comparison between two numbers (greater than >, smaller than
<).
We will also be
working on compare two objects, and identify the attributes used to compare.
Grade 2: Grade 2s will be learning about using different characteristics of
a shape to compare two objects.
We will be learning about how to measure
height, length and distance by counting the number of non-standard units(unifix
blocks, math manipulative).
We will also be practicing on double digit addition and subtraction skills.
Science科学:
Grade 1s will be working on a polar bear blubber experiment.
Grade 2s will be looking at different kinds of liquid, and working on a
simple buoyancy experiment.
Gym 体育:
In December, we will start our
catching & throwing unit. We will be learning many activities related to
catching & throwing.
