Plant project: Our tomatoes are finally sprouting!! Yay!! We have planted tomatoes 🍅 in our classroomJ our plants will likely to harvest in 60-70 days. Be prepared for some tasty tomatoes coming home!!

Feb.26 Shared Assembly @10am in the gym

Mandarin Home Reading: With the weekly homework (Mandarin writing& reading, math, science) and dictation words practices at home. I have decided NOT to send home-readings for students. However, that does not mean students will not work on readings in class. I will continue to have one-one guided reading time with students each day.

This week (Feb.18-21)

Mandarin中文:

This week, we will learn the next six consonants j q x, z c s in pinyin, and we will play conversational games to practices the new vocabularies. We will be working on a vocabularies scavenger hunt in our class. Students will start writing more sentences.

This month, we will start learning about vegetable, food and shape words. We will also continue to learn about pinyin (6 vowels + next 4 consonants j q x z c s).

Math数学:

Grade 1: Last week, we learned about how to identify the differences between 2D and 3D shapes. This week, grade 1s will be working on compare two objects based on length/mass/volume. We will also be talking about 2D and 3D attributes. (faces面, edges边, corners/vertices角)

  

Grade 2: Grade 2s will be keep learning about how to estimate, measure and record the length, height, distance around or mass of a given object. This week, grade 2s will also be working on identify the common attributes of 2D Shapes and 3D Objects, we will also learn how to sort 3-D objects using two common attributes.

Science科学:

Grade 1s will be finishing their 4-season cycle wheels. And we will also be playing a game to learn the month cycle (Jan-Dec) and week cycle (Sun-Sat)

Grade 2s will be continue testing their boats, and then we will discuss ways to improve our boat, and we will also brainstorm ideas to make a boat that sink.
