Learning Updates for Mar.3-7 三月三日至七日

 Dear Kindergarten Families and Friends, 

This week, we continued learning letter names and sounds. Students also completed their Mandarin book on "Me" and had fun practicing how to read it. We will share a video of your child reading their book during our upcoming parent-teacher interviews. 

We have now started a new Mandarin book titled "This is My Family." Throughout this learning journey, students will identify and read key family member names in Mandarin. 

Additionally, we continued reading books about kindness, helping students learn how to demonstrate kindness in our classroom and throughout the school community.

本周，我们继续学习字母名称和发音。孩子们已经完成了他们的《关于我》的小书，并且开始练习阅读。我们将在即将到来的家长会的时候，与您分享孩子朗读自己小书的视频。我们现在开始制作新的中文小书《这是我的家人》在这学习过程中，孩子们将学习识别家庭成员的名称。 

此外，我们继续阅读关于“友善/有爱”的绘本，教导孩子们如何在课堂和校园中传达善意和友好！

Learning Update for Feb.24-27 二月二十四日至二十七日

Dear Kindergarten Families and Friends, 

This week, we continued learning letter names and sounds and making our Mandarin book. Students will have the opportunity to showcase our learning at the parent-teacher interviews in March. 

We had a special assembly where we learned that the beaver represents wisdom—teaching us to understand what is right and wrong. We were also challenged to be "Superbunny" by showing kindness to others at every opportunity! Wishing you all an awesome weekend—enjoy the warm weather!

We had an exciting week exploring Indigenous drumming, and we officially welcomed Mr. He to our class! This week, we learned so much in both English and Mandarin. We also created beautiful Ted Harrison-inspired artwork using watercolors and made a fun polar bear craft.

• We will be having field trips in the spring. Now would be a great time to get your volunteer clearance completed if you are interested in joining us. The clearance process can take several weeks. Learning Updates of Feb.10-12 二月十日至十二日

 Dear Kindergarten Families and Friends, 

Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️ Just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday and next Monday—enjoy the extra-long weekend! 

Even though this was a short week, we still learned a lot! We explored the sound of the letter W, learned how to say “I love you” in Mandarin, and talked about different animal movements.

 Ms. Fan's Weekly Message (Feb.3-7) 凡老师每周信息 

Dear Kindergarten Families and Friends, 

This week was filled with exciting learning experiences! We had the wonderful opportunity to meet Ms. Chantel and explore Indigenous ways of living. The children got to see, touch, and smell sweetgrass and cedar, deepening their connection to the land. 

We also had a special visit from our Grade 2 buddies in Ms. Wang’s class! They helped us create adorable Valentine’s Day crafts, making our time together even more fun and meaningful. 

Meet Mr.He 认识何老师：You might have already heard from your child that we have an extra teacher in our room! We are excited to welcome Mr. He (何老师), my student teacher from the University of Calgary. Starting the week of Feb. 18, he will be joining our class to learn, observe, and teach. When he begins leading lessons, I will be there to support him and ensure our learning remains engaging and meaningful. With an extra adult in our classroom, we’ll have more opportunities for personalized learning, such as small-group reading, one-on-one Mandarin practice, and more! He will be with us until the end of April, and I’ll be sharing more details about him with you next week. 

Next week will be a short but love-filled week!

这个星期我们收获满满，学到了很多有趣的知识！我们有机会和 Chantel 老师见面，了解了原住民的生活方式。孩子们亲手摸了摸、闻了闻甜草和雪松，感受大自然的美好。 

我们还和王老师班上的二年级大哥哥大姐姐们一起做了可爱的情人节手工，大家玩得特别开心，这次合作也变得更加有意义！ 

认识何老师！您可能已经从孩子那里听说，我们班上有一位新老师！我们很开心欢迎何老师 (Mr. He) 加入我们的课堂，他是来自卡尔加里大学的实习老师，从 2 月 18 日 开始，他会和我们一起学习、观摩，并慢慢开始教学。当他正式开始在我们班上课时，我会在旁边支持他，确保孩子们的学习依然有趣又有收获。多了一位老师在班里，我们可以做更多 个性化学习，比如小组阅读、一对一的普通话练习等等！ 

何老师会一直在我们的班直到四月底，下周我会再和大家分享更多关于他的信息！ 

下周虽然是个很短的一周，但一定会充满爱和温暖！

We will be exchanging Valentine Cards at school. Your child may bring: 

✅ Valentine Cards (for everyone in the class, not just a select group) - homemade or store bought  

✅ Small Gifts (pencil, eraser, sticker, etc.) if you would like  

❌ Please do not send your children with candy, chocolate, or anything edible to give to other students. Any edible items will not be distributed.   

Please have your child sign their name on the cards (this is great practice printing their name) but leave the “to” section blank. 

3） We did not have library this week due to our Cree8 Residency. We will have time for a book exchange next week. 我们这周因为有原住民活动，所以没有图书馆，下周恢复图书馆时间。
