Learning Updates for April.14-17 四月十四日至十七日

Dear Kindergarten Families and Friends,

This week, we started learning about rhyming words and sight words. Students also began working on their Lively Letter Book! In Mandarin, we explored directions and focused on 上 (up/on) and 下 (down/under).With Easter coming up, we had fun with themed activities like read-alouds, Easter Tag, and a Chinese Word Egg Hunt. Students had a great time learning through play!

We also said goodbye to Mr. He, our student teacher. The class created a special artwork to thank him. He shared how much he enjoyed his time with us and was proud to see the students grow.

Please see the Important Reminders below — we will have a community walk on Tuesday, 22nd and Wednesday, 23rd.

亲爱的幼儿园家长和朋友们，

本周，我们开始教学生们押韵词（英语中尾音相同的单词）和常见词（视觉词）。我们同时也开始做《英语字母练习册》，并且练习了字母p和字母b。在中文课上，我们学习了方位词，重点练习了“上”和“下”。复活节即将到来，我们也和孩子做了一些与该节日有关的活动，包括英语图书阅读，复活节捉人游戏和汉字找蛋游戏。孩子们在欢声笑语中学习和成长。

我的实习生何老师这周结束了他的实习。我们在一起做了一幅画送给他作感谢礼物。何老师说他非常开心能够给学生们上课，能够看到他们的进步和成长对他来说很是欣慰。

Important Reminders重要提醒:

There is no school from this Friday and next Monday. 这周五和下周一不上课。

Monday/Wednesday class have school next Friday, April 25th 下周五周一/周三班上课。

Community Walk 社区参观/走路 Next Tuesday & Wednesday (Apr.22nd & Apr.23rd)，we will walk with Grade 1 & 2 classes and we will be going on a community walk to Fish Creek Park to celebrate Earth Day and reflect on our connections to the land. We will be leaving the school at approximately 1:15, and returning at 2:15pm. If you would like to volunteer, please let me know. Suggested Home Practice 请在家里和孩子一起做:

Practice letter names and sounds (26 uppercase letters and 26 lowercase letters)

Please read to your child every day, ask them to retell you the story

Practice saying directions ”on/up“ and ""under/down" in Mandarin

Identify shapes in daily life

Learning Updates for Apr.7-11 四月七日至十一日

Dear Kindergarten Families and Friends,

This week, we finished learning all 26 letter names, sounds, and printing! In Mandarin, we completed our family books after learning the words for older sister (姐姐) and younger sister (妹妹). We also practiced using “this is” (这是) to introduce family members.

We had our very first Show and Tell this week! Students loved sharing their special items and learning more about each other.

Important Reminders重要提醒:

There is no school next Friday April.18 and Monday April.21st 下周五和下下周一不上课。
We will continue the Show & Tell program 展示与讲述活动 next week, please check the letter I sent home this week.
Parent Volunteer needed!! 我们需要义工！ we are still looking for parent volunteers for our upcoming field trips, please see the list of field trips below

1) Teacher’s Pet Program (science-based learning) in school! 校内科学活动（半天）

This event will take place at school in the kindergarten classroom.
Monday/Wednesday class: Monday, April 28th at 9am-11:30am (2 more volunteers needed)

2) Midnapore Fire Station Tour 参观消防局（半天）

We will be walking to the Midnapore Fire Station for a tour.

Tuesday/Thursday class: Tuesday, May.6th at 9:15am-11:15am (2 more volunteers needed)

Monday/Wednesday class: Wednesday, May 7th at 9:15am-11:15am (1 more volunteers needed)
