Learning Updates for May.5-8 五月五日至八日

 Hi Kindergarten Friends and Families, 

We had a super fun week! 

On Tuesday and Wednesday, we visited the Midnapore Fire Station. Please make sure to check out our photo link to see the amazing time we had! 

In class, we learned the sight word “see” and continued practicing how to stretch out words—listening carefully to each sound and writing down the matching letters, especially focusing on beginning and ending sounds. 

In Mandarin, we reviewed all the words we’ve learned so far and added a new one:“right (右)”. We also played a fun robot game where the students had to follow my directions in Mandarin while pretending to be robots! 

We also made a special Mother’s Day gift for all our amazing moms. Thank you for everything you do!

亲爱的幼儿园小朋友和家长们： 

这周我们过得非常开心！ 

星期二和星期三，我们参观了 Midnapore 消防局。请记得查看上面的照片链接，看看我们当时有多开心吧！在课堂上，我们学习了新的常见词 “see”，还继续练习“拉长”单词的技巧——认真倾听每一个语音，并写出相应的字母，特别是加强对开头和结尾音的识别与书写。 

在中文课上，我们复习了目前学过的所有词语，还学了一个新词： “右（右边）”。我们还玩了一个有趣的机器人游戏，小朋友们扮演机器人，按照我用中文下达的指令移动身体！ 

我们还为亲爱的妈妈们制作了一份特别的母亲节礼物。感谢妈妈们一直以来的付出与爱！

Important Reminders重要提醒: 

• There is no school next Friday, May.16th and Monday, May. 19 下周五和下下周一不上课。 

• Our zoo field trip is coming up, M/W class has their trip on May. 26th and T/Th class has their trip on May. 20th.  

Suggested Home Practice 请在家里和孩子一起做: 

1. Practice letter names and sounds (26 uppercase letters and 26 lowercase letters) 

2. Please read to your child every day, ask them to retell you the story 

3. Practice saying directions ”on/up, under/down, middle, left, right" in Mandarin 

4. Talk about community and things they know about the fire station (firefighters, tools, their uniforms)

Learning Updates for Apr.28-May.2 四月二十八日至五月二日

 

This week, we learned the sight word “and” and began practicing how to stretch out words—listening carefully to each sound and writing down the corresponding letters, especially focusing on beginning and ending sounds. We also worked on labeling items around the room and started learning what sentences look like.  In Mandarin, we reviewed all the words we have learned so far and learned how to say “left” (左). We also played speedy speaking games to practice giving and following directions.  Our Monday/Wednesday class had their in-school field trip this week—a Teacher’s Pet session where we learned all about how animals move. Learning Updates for Apr.22-25 四月二十二日至二十五日

 Dear Kindergarten Families and Friends,

This week, we learned the sight word “you” and started practicing encoding—listening to the sounds in words and printing the letters, especially the beginning sounds. We also worked on labeling pictures using our growing writing skills!

In celebration of Earth Day, we explored the 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. We had a wonderful community walk to Fish Creek Park, where we used our five senses to connect with nature.

In Mandarin, we learned how to say “in the middle” (中) and played fun games to practice directions.

亲爱的幼儿园家长和小朋友们：

本周，我们学习了常见词 “you”，并开始练习拼写练习（encoding）——也就是听一个单词的发音，并尝试写出其中的字母，尤其是首字母。孩子们也开始尝试为图片加上标签，练习将想法写下来！

为了庆祝世界地球日，我们一起学习了环保三原则：减量（Reduce）、再利用（Reuse）和回收（Recycle）。我们还一起进行了社区散步，走访了鱼溪公园（Fish Creek Park），用五种感官来感受大自然。

在中文课上，我们学习了表示位置的词语 “中”，并通过一些有趣的方向游戏来加深理解。

• Next Show and Tell is Thursday, May.1^st & Friday, May 2nd. The theme is two items that you can compare using measurement terms (heavy/light, tall/short, big/small, etc.)  
• Midnapore Fire Station field trip – Tues, May 6^th and Wed.May 7^th. I am still missing a few signed field trip forms for the Fire Station. These must be returned for your child to attend. 如果您还没有签字参观消防局的同意书，请尽快签完送回给学校。
• If you have not already done so, please login to your MyCBE account to pay the field trip fees.
