Mandarin中文:

This week, we are reviewing what we have learnt in the last few weeks and 
continue learning about how to introduce ourselves, our classmates and our families in 
Mandarin using various sentence starters. We are also working on practice using and 
writing our mandarin name.

Sentences we are reviewing and learning:

1) - 你nǐ上shàng几jǐ年nián级jí？What grade are you in?

    - 我(wǒ)上(shàng)____年(nián)级(jí)。I am in grade _____.

2) -这(zhè)是(shì)谁(shuí)？Who is this?

    -这(zhè)是(shì)_______。This is _________.

3）-那(nà)是(shì)谁(shuí)？Who is that?

     -那(nà)是(shì)_______。That is__________.

4) –你(nǐ)叫(jiào) 什(shén) 么(me) 名(míng) 字(zì)？What is your name?

    - 我(wǒ)叫(jiào)__________。My name is ________.

5)New sentence of the week

    -你(nǐ)家(jiā)有(yǒu)几(jǐ)个(gè)人(rén)？（How many people in your family?）

    -我(wǒ)家(jiā)有(yǒu)______个(gè)人(rén)。 （I have _____people in my family.）

Vocabularies we are reviewing

这(zhè)是(shì)（this is），那(nà)是(shì)  (that is),  谁(shuí) (who）, 年级(niánjí) (grade）, 

爸爸(bàba) (dad）, 妈妈(māmā) (mom), 哥哥(gēgē) （older brother), 是(shì) (is/are）

姐jiě姐jiě （older sister), 妹mèi妹mèi (younger sister), 弟dì弟dì(younger 

brother）

New vocabularies of the week (we will be learning and using these words in class 

this week)

家(jiā)（family), 你(nǐ) (you), 我(wǒ) (I, me), 家(jiā)人(rén) (family 

member), 爱(ài) (love), 叫(jiào) (called),名míng字zì (name), 

几jǐ (how many/how much), 有yǒu (have), 人rén (people/person）

Students are also reminded to practice using their verbal Mandarin to communicate daily needs, including 

"我wǒ可kě以yǐ去qù洗xǐ手shǒu间jiān吗ma？我wǒ可kě以yǐ去qù喝hē水shuǐ吗ma？你nǐ可kě以yǐ帮bāng我wǒ吗ma？谢xiè谢xiè，不bú客kè气qì。" 

(Can I use the washroom? Can I get a drink of water? Can you help me? Thank you, you're welcome.)

  

Math:

Both classes are continuing working on addition and number sense skills.

We are going to look at how to use number-line to visualize our math thinking.

By the end of the week, students should be able to:

1) Use number-line to find numbers

2) Use number-line to identify odd/even number

3) Use number-line to solve addition questions.

We are also going to review patterning, skip-counting in both English and Mandarin, 
writing numbers in Mandarin, and fill in the missing numbers on the100 chart.

Science:

Grade 1s are continuing to use their 5 senses to learn about the world. We are going to do 
a"5 senses walk" around our school building (if the weather is good) or inside our school 

to record things we see, smell, touch(feel), sounds we hear, and things we should NOT taste. Then, we  will also do 2 small experiments on things that we can smell, and 

sounds we can hear.

Grade 2s are starting their cold and hot temperature lessons by talking about different seasons, outfits for different weather, we will also start learning about how to read a thermometer.
